Description
YouCut is a popular, user-friendly video editing app primarily designed for mobile (Android and iOS). It is widely favored by social media creators because it offers a professional suite of tools—like trimming, merging, and adding music—completely without watermarks, even in the free version.
It is developed by InShot Inc., so if you’ve used the In Shot app, the interface will feel very familiar.
Core Features
No Watermark: Unlike many free editors, YouCut doesn’t slap a logo on your finished video.
No Banner Ads: The editing workspace is clean and free of distracting ads.
Pro Tools: Includes multi-layer editing, Chroma Key (green screen), keyframe animation, and speed control (from 0.2x to 100x).
AI Enhancements: Recent updates include AI-powered auto-captions, background removal, and video quality enhancers.
4K Support: You can export videos in high definition up to 4K resolution.
How to Use You Cut (Quick Guide)
1. Start a New Project
Open the app and tap the plus (+) icon. Select the videos or photos from your gallery that you want to include. You can long-press a clip to preview it before adding.
2. Basic Editing (Trim & Split)
Trim: Tap on a clip in the timeline. Drag the orange handles at the ends to cut out the beginning or end.
Split: Move the white play head (the vertical line) to the spot where you want to cut a clip in half, then tap the Split tool. This is great for deleting a middle section of a video.
3. Add Music and Audio
Tap the Music icon to choose from You Cut’s free library or your own local files.
Pro Tip: You can also “Extract Audio” from another video in your gallery to use its sound as a background track.
4. Enhancing with FX and Filters
Filters: Change the color grade of your video.
FX: Long-press an effect (like Glitch, Mirror, or Ghost) to apply it to a specific section of your video.
Transitions: Tap the small icon between two clips to add a fade, dissolve, or slide transition.
5. Using AI Tools & Text
Captions: Use the Text tool to manually add titles, or look for the Auto-captions feature to let AI transcribe your speech.
PIP (Picture-in-Picture): Use this to overlay a second video or image on top of your main footage.
